  • A brilliant read

“In the long run, the most unpleasant truth is a far safer companion than a pleasant falsehood” – Theodore Roosevelt. This quote included at the start of this book is so fitting for this story. I’m calling it, The Night of the Party is the first book that will be part on my best books for 2022! I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in one sitting. Part of the Detective Dan Riley series, this can easily be read as a standalone, but I do encourage you to read the other fantastic books in the series so you don’t miss out! Anna-Lou Weatherley smashes this book right out of the park! Addicted right from the outset, the pages just turned themselves. A perfectly executed and clever psychological thriller with an eclectic cast of characters with so many secrets, it has been awhile since one made my blood boil as much as one does in this book! Oh and the twists! Just brilliant and jaw dropping… OK, I have stop this review right now as in my excitement I don’t want to give anything away, but I will end this with, I take my hat off to you Anna-Lou. Well played…Very well played!

  • FABULOUS BOOK

Fabulous book! My first by this Author but not my last. The two characters I liked best were Evie and Sara. Evie is devastated when her daughter goes missing and is found murdered. Sara makes the most unselfish but understandable decision at the end of the book. Everyone has secrets, some totally deplorable. I highly recommend reading this book.

  • Full of secrets!

This was my first Anna-Lou Weatherley book and I can't wait to read more. I really liked the book and the writing style. Full of twists and surprises, characters who are all liars and are hiding secrets, and betrayal. Libby left her parents' dinner party to meet a friend and never came back. What happened? Everyone is a suspect. There are so many red herrings. I didn't like a single character, including the victim, and yet I really liked the book and couldn't put it down! Such a nice surprise! Thanks. to Bookouture through NetGalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on January 12, 2022.

  • Must read thriller for 2022!

"Nothing is a secret when you really think about it, even if you're the only one keeping it." The first book I've read by Anna-Lou Weatherley and it took my breath away! I read it in one sitting. I was so entranced by this story of love, lies, jealousy, and deceit. Dark secrets between tight-knit family friends come to surface when Liberty "Libby" Drayton is found murdered near her home. Who is Libby Drayton? To her family, she's a 17 year-old straight-A student and talented pianist. To her friends, she's quite the opposite...manipulative and controlling. While trying to solve her murder, her mother tries to find out who the real Libby was. Did she ever really know her 'perfect' daughter? Do we ever really know everything about the ones we love? I loved all of the characters. Each one brought something unique to the story. I enjoyed how the book was narrated with multiple POVs. This thriller was intriguing and I couldn't put it down! Can't wait to read more from this author!

  • What a page-turner!

This book definitely started my year off with a bang! This is one of those books that grabs you with the very first page and does not let go. Evie and Tom are hosting a dinner party for their best friends, Una and Jim. Tom and Evie's 17-year-old daughter, Libby, entertains them with a tune on the piano and then leaves for the evening supposedly to go see a concert with her best friend, Katie. When she fails to return at 10:30 as promised, Evie becomes worried and eventually calls the police. Police start searching the trail she was going to take and discover her body, but who did it??? Lots of suspects come to light and there are lots of secrets revealed which makes for a fascinating read. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very riveting thriller.
